Hey everyone! Have you ever wondered why Christians bother meeting in a building every week? After all, you can pray and read the Bible anywhere!
The truth is, the Bible defines the Church not as a building, but as an assembly—a group of people called together for a special purpose. For followers of Jesus, meeting together is one of the most important things we do!
I. The Command: Don't Skip Assembly!
The New Covenant gives a clear command about meeting together. It tells us not to stop gathering, and to do it even more as time goes on!
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24-25, NKJV).
This verse says we shouldn't "forsake" (or give up, or abandon) the practice of "assembling ourselves together." Why? Because it’s vital for three big reasons:
Stir Up Love and Good Works: We need each other to encourage and challenge us to live better.
Exhorting One Another: This means encouraging, advising, and sometimes even correcting each other gently.
The Day Approaching: As we see the end times getting closer, we need to be together more to stay strong and ready.

II. The Purpose: Why Do We Assemble?
We don't just gather to listen to a sermon. The assembly has specific purposes that bring God's power to the group:
Teaching and Instruction: We gather to learn God's Word correctly. This is like getting the blueprint for how to build your life."And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers." (Acts 2:42, NKJV).
Worship and Prayer: When we worship together, it's powerful!
We are focusing all our praise and attention on God as one unified body."I will declare Your name to My brethren (which is Yah, Psalm 68:4); In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You." (Hebrews 2:12, NKJV).
Praise is the event of highly complementing, declaring how great an accomplishment is and the source who did it.
Service and Unity: Gathering reminds us that we are all part of one body, worshiping and serving one supreme God over humankind, and we need every single person to function correctly.

III. The Parable of the Coal Fire 🔥
Imagine a big, cozy fireplace with a roaring fire. The bright, hot coals are packed together.
The Coal is Hot: When all the coals are together in a pile, they share their heat. This makes the whole pile burn hotter and brighter than any single coal could burn alone.
Analogy: When we assemble, our love and faith share their "heat," making the whole group stronger and more spiritual than we are individually.
The Single Coal Goes Out: If you take one coal and move it away from the pile, what happens? It stops glowing sooner, cools down, and more quickly goes cold and dark.
Analogy: When we forsake the assembling of ourselves together, we risk our own spiritual "heat" or warmth cooling down. It's much harder to keep your faith strong AS GOD INTENDED when you're isolated.
The Coal is Brought Back: If you quickly put that cooling coal back into the pile, it sparks and starts glowing hot again!
Analogy: The Church assembly is the source of shared heat that keeps our faith burning bright! We go to be encouraged, and we go to give encouragement.
