ADVANCED GLOSSARY
Alphabetical Edition
Lion of Judah Discipleship Journey Seminary
Consolidated A-Z Reference
This alphabetical consolidation presents all terms from the Master Hashwar Hebrew Glossary in pure A-Z order, eliminating thematic sections and redundancies.
Each entry includes Hebrew transliteration where applicable, definitions, and biblical references.
The Hashwar Hebrew system emphasizes consonantal accuracy and biblical-era pronunciation patterns.
There were no vowels (A, E, I, O, U) represented by the Bible era Hebrew alphabet, which is the Hebraicized Aramaic (Hashwar Hebrew).
In Hashwar Hebrew transcriptions, short semi-vowels “a”, as in the word Ĥalap, have the same sound “ah” as in the word “ball” or “Yah”, and never a long vowel sound as in the word “ach.” This is by default for beginners and when words are used in sentences, which tends to steer disciples into focusing on consonants instead of vowels, as in Bible era times.
Advanced Hashwar Hebrew students have limited guidelines for when these short simi-vowels change to other only-short semi-vowels to only distinguish similar sounding words (orally) that are spelled differently, such a as Yahwadah (Judah) and Yahwaday (Jew) [both sound like Yah-wah-dah, there for Yahwadey [Yah-wah-deh] allowed, as when speaking the word alone without sentence context].
Since the distinction (by consonant) is seen in text after written, YHWDH / Yahwadah (Judah) and YHWDY / Yahwaday (Jew) no need to change the “a” semi-vowels. Just as son and sun sound the same in sentences, context distinguish them in speech.
